Mid-tempo, strong melody, Al’s singing the smooth horns, the exacting rhythm section anchored by perfect drumming – as good as it gets. The B-side slows things down, it’s very soulful and tender, smooth strings, but still that wonderful funky rhythm…. The following story is posted on You Tube in reference to the B-side: “This song was for his girlfriend Mary Woodson. On the same night this song was recorded she threw a pot of hot grits on Al for turning down her marriage proposal. Immediately after she ran into the bedroom and committed suicide with Green’s gun.” There is also full chapter in the Al Green biography about this tragedy.
