Description: Description:This rare medal is one of 50 in Franklin Mint's "OFFICIAL HISTORY OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES" Series. The set was issued from 1976 to 1980 under the direction of the International Olympic Committee to commemorate the greatest moments in the modern Olympic games beginning in 1896.The obverse features the diver Joaquin Capilla from Mexico, whose career covered three Olympiads including 1948, 1952 and 1956. The reverse features a laurel wreath with the Olympic Rings symbol and information on the featured athlete. "At Melbourne in 1956, Joaquin Capilla Perez became the first Mexican ever to win an Olympic diving title."Only 5,382 silver copies of this medal were issued.Weight: 20 gramsDiameter: 40 mmThickness: 3 mmThe original storage capsule is included.
