Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE In the oeuvre of Pop Art Founding Father Mel Ramos, perhaps no single work seems so concurrently of her time, ahead of her time, and retro as Devil Doll – and this triptych singularity is among several essential hallmarks of what is enduringly authentic and indeed, culturally profound (more than half a century later), about Devil Doll’s character-study, in which we find a universally relatable work of eternally hip Americana by way of a "WrestleMania" "Lucha Libre" Mona Lisa, intersecting numerous contemporary and classic High ‘n Low touchstones. Examining this color-dense, high-impact, 23 inch x 33 inch poster, after being released from her gaze, we inevitably find our way to the concentric circles and calligraphy, which dually evoke the color theory-flouting formalism of Kenneth Noland and the Pop pomp and grandiosity of Looney Tunes’ “That’s All Folks!” title cards. A hybrid of "Wendy the Witch", "Casper the Friendly Ghost" and "Hot Stuff the Little Devil" – adorned in "Josie & The Pussycats"- esque attire – her cherubic features are rendered aloof by a casually scrutinizing underlook, as she either fixes her skull cap or poses de rigeur – or likely both, as she is the professional poser, in a Pop Art world that’s all about signature style. Simply put, this is one of mel Ramos' Most beloved images, and this poster's quality and plate size rivals print ediitons. I photographed the 23 inch x 33 inch poster atop a 24 inch x 36 inch frame for scale. I'm always happy to answer any questions! All words c. 2024 Michael Vazquez MINT CONDITION.
