Description: 1971, Editions Medicina Rara, Ltd. #1422 of 2500. 12 full-color caricatures in paper frame folders. 14 x 17. With one exception, all of these were shown between 1810 and 1813 in London. As seen in these prints, the medical profession was not held in high-esteem by many, as "The Last Gasp" and "The Dying Patient, or Doctor's Last Fee" so drolly illustrate. One later critic aptly summed up TR's career: "The works of Rowlandson’s prime are outstanding in the vitality of their outline and the gusto of their comment on human weaknesses." Print colors are outstanding, all on Curtis Rag laid watermarked-paper. Clam-shell box (slight discoloration at top left corner, nicks along edges, right-hand corner slightly bumped) in gray-blue with brick red and white paste-down title label. Informative foreword, "The Doctor Dissected" also included. NEAR FINE condition.
