Original Period-Framed Color Illustration (facing page 32) from the 1919 Edition of Wiggin & Smith’s ‘The Arabian Nights’. The color and condition are excellent. The image is 6 1/2”x 5 1/4”. Outermost frame dimensions are 8 3/4”x 6 3/4”. The frame is a repurposed/refurbished photo frame from the 1920’s (Thought it worked well). It is backed with 2-ply acid-free rag museum board, new hardware, bump-ons and dustcover, August, 2023 and ready to hang. A nice cost/size alternative to the full size print ( Ref. Flacks 4th, page 54, photo #14). This was originally painted for and appeared as the color frontispiece for the December 1, 1906, issue of Colliers Magazine, in the feature ‘Arabian Nights V’ as “Search For The Singing Tree”, issued as a print the same year and finally as this illustration in the Wiggin & Smith publication (and several subsequent editions). Note: The first 10 photos are taken without glass to avoid reflection/glare issues, photos 11, 12 & 13 after completion of project: the last 3 photos, the book itself, is shown for provenance only and is NOT included.
