Description: Circa post-1980, this is a huge repoussé sterling silver combination pendant / pin featuring a huge bird with a turquoise eye and 10 dangles. The details are exquisite. Hand-wrought and spectacular. Matilde Poulat studied painting at the San Carlos Academy of Art, and was a painter and designer when she opened her shop in 1934. Her trademark "Matl" appeared on her work. Known for her folk art designs and unique, unmistakable style, Poulat worked with her nephew, Ricardo Salas. After Poulat's death in 1960, Salas opened his own shop and along with his family continued to produce his aunt's designs as well as creating his own. He is deceased now, as well. It's not original to the piece but works with it so perfectly that I'm including it.Weight is 50 grams. Chain weighs 30.2 grams. Total weight 80.2 grams. In excellent vintage condition. Pin closes with a simple "C" clasp. All original.
