Description: American ceramic artist Mary Lou Higgins (1926 - 2012) created this 11-1/2" plate (thrown by her husband and fellow ceramist Ed Higgins), in 1976. It's in top condition; no cracks or chips. Her signature Renaissance-like figures are front and center, with a silver glaze, hand-painted and signed by both Mary Lou and Ed. Her work is very collectible and it is becoming quite hard to find pieces, especially any in such good condition. This would be a perfect gift for a discerning collector of all things beautiful ! There is a raised lip all around the entire outside, with a drapery-type pattern inside the lip. Once, when asked if her figures were male or female, Mary Lou simply replied "Yes." Used. Buyer pays postage.
