Description: Mary Mark (American, Ohio, 20th/21st century) Untitled (abstract composition) Handmade paper and thread construction Signed to lower left Ohioan artist Mary Mark creates these paper constructions from scratch, using a process of macerating cotton fibers and then mixing with dyes and forming a sheet on a vacuum table. Once dry, she cuts the dyed paper into pieces and builds a ‘city’ or ‘story’, laying the cut pieces face down on the vacuum table and then laying sheets of raw pulp on top of the arrangement. Once this is dry, the piece is complete, though she sometimes adds additional non-paper elements to the finished product. Untitled abstract - signed, original oil pastel/mixed media on handmade paper (Mary Mark)
