It is struck in brass, 2.3 gms, 16.4 mm. The issue has been demonetized. The obverse legends translate "NATIONAL LEPROSARIUM MARACAIBO". The reverse shows an abbreviation of the denomination and a fraction of 1/8 to indicate the value of the coin. The obverse shows a bright brass color in the central area, with dark toning around the lettering at the border. The reverse is the tone common to aged brass.
