Magnificent and Rare, Antique 21" Jumeau Portrait Fashion Doll

Description: Magnificent and Rare, Antique 21" Jumeau Portrait Fashion Doll. Wearing her original light blonde mohair wig, this exceptional poupee is exquisite, with pale blue paperweight eyes, mauve eyeshadow and feathered eyebrows. Her two-piece fancy gown of a beautiful French blue silk is original to her, and complete with a train on the back of the skirt. The bodice fastens in back with the original hook and eye enclosures. The silk, unfortunately, has some melting in spots and is in fragile condition. The good thing is the dress is fully lined for added stability. Across her shoulders, she is wearing a crocheted cape made of ecru cotton and accented with tiny blue silk bows. Underneath, there are layers of antique French Fashion Doll undergarments ~ a white cotton chemise, fancy antique pantaloons, a white ruffled cotton half-slip and another half-slip made of embroidered cream wool flannel. She is wearing the most enchanting blue leather heeled fashion boots with tiny gold buttons and original white tassels. Her stockings are antique silk mesh, with red and white stripes at the top, like a holiday candy cane. Her original light blonde mohair wig is fabulous. It is very full with tiny ringlets framing her face beautifully. Included is the cork pate that appears to be original. Her bisque is superb, giving her a pensive and luminous expression, with a pale, luminescent appeal. She has pierced ears with antique Jumeau blue glass heart-shaped earrings. Her bisque head and shoulderplate are unmarked, which is typical of the Portrait Fashion Dolls and indicative of an earlier Poupee. Her bisque is perfect, with the exception of a tiny firing mark at the top of her forehead, common among earlier Fashions. It is very light, is well covered by her wig, and does not devalue or, in our opinion, detract from her beauty. Otherwise, she appears to have no hairlines, chips, cracks or restorations. Her original and early cloth body with tan kid leather arms resembling gloves is a very rare version that Jumeau used, and mostly on his Portrait Fashion Dolls. Due to the delicate nature of her silk gown, we have chosen not to remove her clothing for fear of compromising her originality. We have looked under stockings and her legs appear to be well preserved with no apparent repairs or patches.
