Description: This auction is for a RARE Mattel 1990 Fashion Friends Casual Wear outfit #7483 Never-Removed-From-Box. Many collectors don't realize it, but K-Mart Commissioned Mattel to make them their own EXCLUSIVE Barbie-type fashion doll in 1990. Mattel had never done anything like this before, but they created the Fashion Friends series just for K-Mart. They were not technically called "Barbie" but they used the Barbie body and came with exact Barbie shoes. (Only the head sculpts were changed). The 3 dolls are hard-to-find, but their fashions are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find! I am listing two of them on ebay. This first auction is for a lovely springtime fashion with pink jacket, floral top, and lavender skirt. It comes with purple pumps. The package is in excellent condition. The fashions & shoes are basically Barbie fashions (same quality) so these would be great items to add to a Contemporary Barbie collection (if you can find them). Some collectors may compare the Fashion Friends series to the 1975 Sweet 16 (non-Barbie) doll & fashions made by Mattel, as the concept was very similar.
