With the signature of the artist "G. Leroux" impressed into the back of the bust, just below the right shoulder, and with small circular raised stamp of casting foundry and "FRANCE C."also to back. Polished bronze title plaque to base. Some minor wear and oxidation; base loose. In very good condition overall. Unlocated in the databases of either the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, Germany, or the Ira F. Brilliant Center for Beethoven Studies at San Jose State University in San Jose, California. No examples found in the online census "French Sculpture 1500-1960 in North American Public Collections."Leroux, a student of François Jouffroy and C. Deloye, exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon.
