Description: Up for auction is a neat old book I found at an estate sale where the owner had a massive train-related collection. This is an unusual item: A Long Island Rail Road Company "Abandonment Study" for the West Hempstead branch, prepared by the LIRR Company Study Committee and dated Nov. 23, 1953. I guess they were studying whether it was economically feasible to maintain that line. Fascinating piece of LIRR history. Measures 8 1/2 by 11 inches. Nice shape for the age.
