Description: This A5-sized greeting card features a highly detailed hand drawn colour illustration of LMS Ivatt Class 4 2-6-0 No. 43106 by George Morgan on the front and on the rear a brief history of this locomotive. The card is produced on 350 gsm card and supplied with a quality white envelope. LMS Ivatt Class 4 2-6-0 No. 43106. Designed by H.G. Ivatt and classified 4F by the LMS and 4MT by British Rail and primarily designed for medium freight work the Ivatt Class 4 were also widely used on secondary passenger duties. 162 examples were built by the London Midland and Scottish Railway between 1947 and 1952 at Horwich, Doncaster and Darlington. The design being noted for its American appearance with high running plates. No. 43106 is the only preserved example, having been the final member of the class in service. Based at Lostock Hall it was last operational with BR prior to Easter in 1968 and steamed for the final time by British Railways on 1st August 1968, leaving just enough time to steam to its current home at The Severn Valley Railway before the end of BR steam operation on 4th August 1968.This card is blank inside for your message.
