Description: Liuli Gongfang or Liuligongfang (Chinese: 琉璃工房; pinyin: Liúlí Gōngfáng) is Taiwan's only contemporary glass studio devoted to artistic Chinese glassware. This beautiful piece is authentic. It is signed Newworkshops, signature by the artist that I am unable to decipher as I do not know Chinese and states the year of 2001 and limited number of his piece art glass. This piece is 1125 out of 1290 World Wide. Founded in 1987 by renowned glass artists Loretta H. Yang and Chang Yi, LIULI has grown from a modest workshop in Taiwan to become Asia’s leading brand of crystal art. Liuli is a Chinese term from the Han Dynasty for glass art, and was chosen to honor the richness of Chinese heritage and culture. Records show that artisans of the Han Dynasty were highly skilled in lost-wax casting (pâte de verre) but the craft was subsequently lost and forgotten. Yang and Chang revived the craft and reintroduced it to the international arena. Founded in 1987 by renowned glass artists Loretta H. Each piece undergoes a comprehensive twelve-step process and requires six to eight months to complete. LIULI produces a limited number of pieces, so as to foster an environment where our artists are constantly engaged in the creation process and stay relevant to the society they care about. Many pieces created by Liuli are not proudly displayed in museums across the world. All of the works are full of symbolism. I am not an expert but from doing a little research I think this depicts a treasure bowl with a sphere topped with the depiction of a Ru-Yi scepter. A ruyi (Chinese: 如意; pinyin: Rúyì; lit. 'as desired', ' as [you] wish') is a Chinese curved decorative object that serves as either a ceremonial scepter in Chinese Buddhism or a talisman symbolizing power and good fortune in Chinese folklore. The "ruyi" image frequently appears as a motif in Asian art.The Sphere is an Ancient and Universal Symbol that represents Unity, Completeness and Infinity. Spheres help to bring out Integrity, clear thinking and a better Union of Body, Mind and Spirit. There is a great deal of symbolism in this piece to push your Feng Shui to new heights in your personal or work space. Feng Shui translates to wind-water. Feng Shui aligns with natural forces to create a harmonious environment that aligns with the natural work. This piece is in good preowned condition. There is no box included. There appear to be no chips or cracks. It as created. There are four clear rubber circles on the bottom to protect your furniture from placing it on that surface. A few bubbles are a product of the age old artist crystal work that Liulu is known for for hundreds of years and dynasties. It weighs approximately almost 2 pounds. It is approximately 4 7/8 x 5 1/4.
