Lionel Standard Gauge PO50 Set ALL ORIGINAL 1931 EX+ to LN OB 9U, 428, 429, 430

Description: Lionel made the PO-50 set in 1931 only. It comprises of the 9U electric loco, 428 Parlor car, 429 combination Parlor and Baggage car, and 430 Observation car. Loco is orange with brass trim. Cars are orange with apple green trim. Set box is an Ives box with Lionel labels pasted over the Ives markings and is ALL ORIGINAL, as is the entire set. Set was probably sold after 1931, as the orange 9U’s were discontinued in proceeding catalogues. These sets were often offered for prizes in raffles at movie theaters! The loco itself is in Excellent Plus to Like New (C7+ to C8) condition. Loco has a hand reverse unit with a 9U plate. The original wheels are very slightly warped but have the correct weights. Cars are also in Excellent Plus to Like New condition with nice, sharp lettering. All boxes are in wonderful shape and have all flaps attached. The original wrapping paper for the loco still has the Lionel tape. The wrapping paper also appears original to the cars. The set box has a split on one corner as shown. This set was one of the best items from the “Frank Petruzzo Lionel Classic Standard Gauge Collection”. It is in near perfect condition and a finer set you will not find.
