Description: Lionel Postwar # 175 ROCKET LAUNCHER Set with Box & Information - Works Well - See Video For sale is a very nice Postwar Lionel # 175 - O and O27 gauge operating Rocket Launcher. When the Fire Button is pressed on the controller, the rocket fires off. The controller also has a countdown lever and dial and a button to control the gantry. Fire and Gantry buttons work. The rocket fires and the gantry moves back and forth. You take the rocket from the gantry and place it on the launcher, with the launcher pushed down then ready to fire with the button.Controller Countdown feature works has shown in the video. Components of this set range from Good to Excellent condition. Rocket is a reproduction with a sponge tip to help protect the rocket when being fired. Rocket goes higher than the ceiling. Metal launch platform in very good condition. Tower in is in very good condition.Pictures show there are some railings missing, especially next to the rocket launcher. Has new 4-conductor wiring between the platform and controller.Introduced in 1958, the Rocket Launcher was possibly the finest accessory Lionel made, since it was a scale replica of the real thing located at Cape Canaveral. Just as important, it was one of the most trouble-free ever produced by Lionel.The steps on each side of the rocket launcher are not snapped into place in case the new owner wants to remove the cover around the launcher. The cranes have been removed from the tower top for shipping. See last two pictures. They snap back in with the three tabs. Included are copies of the Lionel Service Manual exploded diagrams and How to Install and Operate No. 175 Rocket Launcher. A picture shows these. The original box is included.
