Description: This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. The paint is wearing off on the roof in multiple areas, exposing the blue plastic underneath. There is small crack and damage on the front of the plastic frame of the powered unit. The apron area is broken and missing on one side of the A unit. There is wear and tarnish on the wheels & pickups from previous use. There is a bit of grease residue in the underframe and in the axles. This item has been inspected by our repair shop. The 217 Boston & Maine Alco A&B diesel set was only produced in 1959. This locomotive is notable because it is the only postwar diesel that does not have the full roadname spelled out on the body, only a logo. Included is the powered A unit and the non-powered B unit. The features include unpainted blue bodies, black painted roofs and fronts, white lettering and accenting, and die-cast non-operating couplers. The powered unit is also equipped with two-axle Magnetraction, three-position E-unit, headlight plus a simulated horn on top of the cab.
