Description: Limoges Bernardaud B&Co 4 Dinner Plates 10 5/8" Riviera 1914-1930's Floral Gold An Elegant Decorative Set of 4 DINNER PLATES from B&Co. (L. Bernardaud & Company) Limoges, France, MULTI-COLOR FLOWERS w/GREEN LEAVES, Smooth Rim w/GOLD Trim on Cream & White, circa 1914-1930's DESCRIPTION: The set of 4 dinner plates was decorated and hand painted by a talented artist. The color palette used is blue, orange, yellow, green & lavender on cream & white w/gold. The flower sprays are bright and eye-catching. The verge has a lavender ring separating the cream of the rim from the white of the center of the plate. The flower sprays fall over the verge into the center of the plate. See the photos. CONDITION: While this dinner plate set is classified as used, its condition is superb. We can find no defects or damage. There is no gold or paint wear. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines. See the photos to judge for yourself. DIMENSIONS: The plates have a diameter of 10 5/8”and a height of 1". HISTORY/MARKS: Remy Delinieres and P. Guery established a pottery in the 1860’s in Limoges, France. Delinieres became head of the company after 1879 and established a porcelain decorating shop in 1881 as part of the factory. In 1900, the company becomes Leon Bernardaud & Co. Leon & his father had worked for Delinieres and eventually purchased the company. Leon Bernardaud’s family continued his company which is still in operation. The B&Co (Bernardaud & Company) mark on this is the green underglaze white ware mark #2 used 1914-1930's as cited in Mary Frank Gaston's Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition. This also has the red decorator mark #3 used 1900-1930's. This makes the circa for this item to be 1914-1930's. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
