Graduated from the former Aomori Junior High School In 1932, he studied copperplate printing under Kon Junzo In 1936, he was selected for his first official exhibition In 1938, he became a member at the Japan Print Association exhibition In 1939, he moved to Tokyo to study under Onchi Koshiro and oil painting at the Shinjuku Suzuki Institute. His works include woodblock printing, copperplate printing, lithography, and oil painting In 1940, he founded the Japan Etching Association and became a member of it. In 1953, he exhibited his work at the Lugano International Print Exhibition In 1960, he won an award at the Northwest International Print Exhibition in the United States In 1957, he moved to Shimofuda, Chofu City In 1961, he won a special award at the Ljubljana International Print Exhibition for his New York trilogy of flowers, graves, and cars In 1963, he was invited by the Ford Foundation to travel to the United States for a year, where he studied at the University of Washington and other institutions.
