Description: Library of Congress OWL BOOKEND Heavy Cast Sandstone John Adams Building *Excellent preowned condition, but one owl does have a very small chip missing on one ear. Its hard to tell from the front profile, but you can see it on the side. SEE PHOTOS.* These will be double, possibly triple box with plenty of padding and protection to keep it from breaking in transit. These are very fragile, so that is why shipping is quite high on these because I will have to send them in a very large box to be able to confidently ship them. If you live local and want to do local pick up I can try to arrange that for you as well, just send me a message and we can work something out to do so. This is a Rare Set of Art Deco Style Cast Sandstone Library of Congress Owl Bookends. These are a reproduction of the owls that are flanking the entrance of the John Adams building of the Library of Congress. They owls were designed by sculptor Lee Lawrie (1877-1963). The bookends measure approximately 10” high by 4 1/2” across. The backs are marked with an embossed Library of Congress seal. They are in good pre-owned condition, other than the small chip on one ear. (see pictures).
