Description: LEVITRON the Anti-Gravity Top! This was the original Levitron Top and includes the very heavy, solid-wood base, along with all accessories and a brand-new, never opened, replacement spin top and even the original sales receipt! (The original spin top - also included - developed some chips along the way with repeated use.) The base on this original Levitron weighs over 2 lbs! More of a skill toy than a plaything (I used it a lot in the office at work), the clear acrylic top was placed on top of the wood base, then the top was spun on the acrylic. It took combinations of the weighting washers on the spin top and the wood shims to level the base, if necessary, before a "stable" spin would result. Once the spin was stable, you would slide the acrylic out from under the spinning top, while it stayed spinning in mid-air. That was the object, anyway. With practice, the proper weighting, and shims to level the base board, the spin top could be made to spin with regularity. Of course, if you were able to get a stable spin and slide the acrylic out between the base and spin top, the effect of the spin top spinning in mid-air by itself was more than enough reward for all of the effort. Still a great distraction, this is the original QUALITY version that can stand up well in a professional setting. You won't get made fun of by co-workers thinking this is just a plastic toy - it's not!
