Description: This is the “difficult” parts necessary to build a basic Legacy Ornamental Mill. I acquired a Model 1000 Legacy Mill some time ago. This is a 3-axis ornamental milling machine, with the cutting done by a plunge router, basically a lathe without a motor. The X-Axis (left to right) and Y-Axis (front to back) are provided by the machine, and the Z-Axis (up and down) is provided by the plunge router. The machine cuts flutes, spirals, tapers, and has a template-following feature. Soon after, I purchased the Z-Axis upgrade, which includes the vertical rails and replaces the Y-Axis assembly. I have left over the original Y-Axis assembly, including the router mounting plate. For some reason I have never understood, they also shipped a new headstock and tailstock, which I did not use. To build a rudimentary Legacy Mill, the buyer would have to supply the extruded aluminum rails, at a minimum. It looks like the 80/20 model 40-4040 or 45-4545 rails would be a good fit. Optionally, the lead screws and indexing wheel and hand-crank could be added. To repeat, this is NOT a complete Legacy Ornamental Mill. It is the parts which would be difficult to fabricate: Y-Axis Assembly, including router mounting plate Headstock (threaded 1x8, also has #2 Morse taper), with indexing pin Tailstock, with dead center Template-Following Attachment, attaches to router plate The Headstock and Tailstock are new and un-used. The Y-Axis assembly and Template-Following Attachment are in excellent condition. This is a great start for someone with DIY or fabrication skills to build an Ornamental Mill for woodworking. This is What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get. Everything that is included is in the pictures. Legacy Woodworking Machinery still exists, though they are now focused on more high-end CNC machines. The last three photos are of my Legacy Mill (not for sale), so the buyer can get an idea what the machine looks like.
