L.E. Smith Moon and Star Amber Salt and Pepper set

Description: These beautiful used Amber Salt and Pepper shakers are the perfect addition to any collection. It is in good condition, from 1950's to 1960's. On one of the shakers there is a small flea bite, see pictures. You can still place salt or pepper inside and have no worries of leakage. The metal tops are not in the greatest shape, due to the age of the items they look ok. I would suggest buying new tops if you are going to use them everyday. No damage only small straw marks from production. It displays beautifully. As with any colored glass, the color varies with each item, or batch. The colors are unique to each item and can vary piece to piece. It is absolutely beautiful and it glows under UV light, with an orange and red flame appearance. The moon and star design was made by several makers, over several generations. Starting in the 1874 by the introduction of pressed glass. First production of Adams Company in 1874 was a pattern called "Palace" later to be known as the popular pattern Moon and Star. After several years and makers of the pattern, we arrive with the beloved collection we know today. Makers included L.G. Wright around 1930's to 1960's. L.E. Smith around 1940's made reproductions of the famous pattern, some even made in Italy. Through many years producing with many different companies, and companies changing ownership several times over the generations. Fenton and Diamond Glass Company and also Island Mould Company, just to name a few. Which brings us to modern day production of Moon and Star. Joseph Weisher owner of Island Mould Company produced many pieces we enjoy today. The Weisher family still owns and operates Island Mould, which produces miniature water sets and lots of the original compotes and staple pieces of collectors today. New and exciting pieces from the L.G. Wright moulds have the Weisher signature on them, and stand out with originality and exciting possibilities. eBay now has started to collect sales tax from some states. Due to the age and rarity of the items I cannot combine shipping. I will list any imperfections and provide pictures of any issues with the glass.
