A really lovely crisp copy of 'Last Poems' Housman was very annoyed by the publisher's mistakes, but when he offered to insert an errata slip in the remaining copies, Housman famously responded "No, don't. The blunder will probably enhance the value of the 1st edition in the eyes of bibliophiles, an idiotic class." 'Last Poems' was the second and last of only two volumes of poetry published in Housman's lifetime. It contains one of his best known poems, which appeared first in the British Times Newspaper on 31st October 1917 under a leading article on the anniversary of the First Battle of Ypres (19/10/1914 -22/11/1914) XXXVII. Published in London by Grant Richards Ltd. Printed in Great Britain by The Riverside Press Limited Edinburgh. This is an Ex-Library book, as there is a vintage paper sticker in the inside cover (See photos), however the book is in very good condition, with clean pages and the spine pulling back the pages from spreading open. A RARE FIND book that is in very good condition with the following additional comments on condition. The hard cover shows only minor wear typical of shelf wear. There are no heavy creases in the spine and the book is still firmly attached. The internal pages have slight tinges of brown at the edges from ageing and the pages are off white. In general the pages are in very good condition, with no missing pages, tears or rips. There is a pencil inscription on the inside back cover by the previous owner (see photo) noting the author/publishers punctuation errors on page 52. This confirms it is a limited First Edition, First Issue with the punctuation errors on the first two lines of Poem XXVI on page 52. 4000 copies printed with error.
