Description: Offering a large, rare, antique art pottery jardiniere made by Weller in the Burntwood/Dechiwo pattern designed by Lorber in 1910. It measures approximately 10”w x 9”h and is in excellent antique condition. It has a crisp relief pattern portraying fauns frolicking in a forest. Fauns are mythical creatures relevant to ancient Romans and Greeks who thought they possessed fertility powers. It has a small light square that seems like it may have been an adhesive label and some light areas. The bottom of the pot has an early Weller incised stamp. From Warman's WELLER POTTERY book; written in 2007 by Denise and David Rago, published by Krause Publications in Iola WI, "Yet another variation (of Burntwood) was introduced at the same time. Dechiwo, with excised satyr design on brown ground. Examples of this line (Dechiwo) are nearly impossible to find, all with a high price tag.”
