Description: Cauldon, a British pottery and bone china manufacturing company from 1774 onward, a real treasure. From my own collection of decades, this one has been on display for 25 years in my kitchen here at home, and not a single day goes by without it catching my eye. It is superb in all ways. Thick and heavy 170 or so year old stoneware, it survives without so much as a chip or hairline, no cracks. A rounded rectangle more than oval, really, it's 14.5" x 12.5" and a depth of 1/5". A heavy meat or main course platter you will mix-match with your floral flow blue to more Asian motif blue ware. Very good to excellent condition for age and type, it is thick and heavy and stunning blue and white. There are typical old 'hand made' aspects, the cut of the transferware, the slight irregularity of rim - no chips and no cracks or hairlines. If there is a little crazing to glaze, it's not easy to find. Very smooth surface. It has been displayed on a platter rail, not with metal platter rack (shown for photo only), and there are no flaws there, either. Magnificent look with mix-match antique blue & white.
