Description: This interesting piece comes from the estate of a military man who spent most of his service in Japan after WWII. He loved the culture and his distinguished old home in the Ohio River Valley was filled with items such as this. This is a striking piece. If you watched the series SHOGUN, you will be familiar with the type of clothing and colors. I have no idea how old this piece is or who made it. It does have Kanji marks incised on the bottom, but I can't read them (see last picture). I can tell you that it is beautifully done and has fantastic detail right down to the fingernails as I show in the many pictures I have provided. It is a heavy piece made of heavy porcelain. This warrior stands about 12" tall and is about 8" at the widest. The piece is beautifully hand painted and in very good condition. There are no chips or cracks. It seems at one time this samurai warrior may have been holding something in his hand. There is the sign of some age on the bottom, but I don't know.
