Description: Up for sale here is a chore jacket from the venerable Laboureur label. Laboureur is a heritage French label, starting up in the mid 1950s and still family-owned. They originally started producing agricultural workwear and haven’t ventured out too far since. As the name suggests, Laboureur is still very workwear focused, most known for producing various iterations of the iconic “chore jacket”. The other thing Laboureur is perhaps best known for is their strong Made in France ethos. All production, as well as even the materials, are exclusively locally-sourced. This is one of those proudly French labels that is unfortunately a dying breed. Although pretty strongly French, Laboureur have actually collaborated with a few more fashion-forward labels including the likes of Junya Watanabe and United Arrows in Japan. This jacket is from their main line, Laboureur’s take on the iconic chore jacket, done in 67% cotton, 23% polyester blend. Fabric is pretty unique and one I haven’t come across elsewhere from Laboureur – this is actually one of their more recent releases, as evidenced from their numeric sizing and more relaxed fit (these are hallmarks of more recent Laboureur releases). Fabric is lighter in weight than most Laboureur I have encountered, where this is probably best as a warmer weather piece. Many of the Laboureur hallmarks are still very much apparent, where this is produced as a work jacket yet at the same time looks very smart outside of a work context. As always with Laboureur the jacket is built tough and made to last. Buttons are branded, there is an interior chest pocket, and interior features a large woven tag. Size is labeled a 1 and fits a large well. If you like a more relaxed fit it can work for a medium too. I measure the chest at 22”, shoulders at 19”, length at 30” and sleeves at 23”. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible signs of wear. Made in France. Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
