Within the circuit of Rock groups in Mexico, Ernesto de León was a guitarist for groups such as Los Ovnis de Armando Vazquez, previously known as Los Teddy Bears, with whom he recorded the album Hippies, which is considered a precedent in Rock in Mexico. Being the first album that contained nine original compositions in its entirety and a single cover that is a version of the song "Light my Fire" by The Doors.Later, Ernesto de León joined La Máquina del Sonido, a group led by Armando Molina, with whom he recorded an album and some singles. Where a version of the song “In a Gadda da Vida” by Iron Butterfly stands out, as well as his own songs such as “Nena No Me Toques” or “Hablando de Blues“.After leaving Armando Molina's group, Ernesto de León would join a band recently formed by Alejandro Lora and Carlos Hauptvogel, called Three Souls in my Mind, which became one of the most influential rock groups in Mexico. Three Souls in my Mind was formed on October 12, 1968 in Mexico City, the same day the Olympic Games opened, and was a controversial group both for the press and for the Rock circuit of the seventies.
