Description: KUTMASTER Camping/Utility Pocketknife, Vintage: This knife is in better condition than the description implies. Brass frame and steel pins are solid and square. handles are like new, tools look unused, lanyard bail is the extended version like the military version of this knife. The blade is full height with no sharpening gouges, indicating very little use. It has extensive but minor pitting on both sides, indicating that it was kept in a box with other old knives, at least some of them equipped with deteriorating celluloid handles. The off-gassing from those knives has damaged all the blades on this knife but mostly the main. (It has the most surface area.) I cleaned all blades of any (acid or base?) caustic chemicals and lightly sanded the main blade in an attempt to regain a polished surface, the best that I could do was wet-sand it and buff it with polishing clay. This knife looks like a worker, not a trailer queen. Kutmaster stampings originated at Utica Cutlery of New York in 1937 and was used as a "premium" line of knives to be sold to hardware stores rather than to mass marketer outlets. Their reputation was for high quality and elevated pricing. Mailing only to USA-48. Postage is usually between $5.00 and $6.26. Buyer pays $4.00, I will pay the rest. Please see my other knives and save postage. I am liquidating my entire collection; please keep me in your favorite sellers, watching for Old Bryan's Old Knives or the seller name below.
