At the suggestion of a pediatrician Kathe Kruse designed these lifelike babies called Traumerchen referred to as Sand Babies because they are weighted just like a real baby. She is 22” long and has a weighted sculpted body. The eyes, hair and all painting are hand painted by the artisans at the Kruse company using oil paints. Fingers and toes are hand stitched with the hands forming little fists. The special sand filling allows her to feel like holding a real baby.
