Description: WHO IS KRAMPUS?In Central European Christmas folklore, Krampus is a half-goat, half-demon, horrific beast with a long slithering tongue who scares and literally beats naughty children into being nice. Assisting Saint Nicholas, the pair visit children on the night of December 5th, which is known as Krampusnacht, or Krampus Night. While Saint Nicholas rewards children who'd been good all year with small gifts & treats, Krampus beats those who are naughty with branches and sticks, stuffs them in a sack, and takes them away to his lair in the underworld. “GRUSS VOM KRAMPUS” MEANS “GREETINGS FROM KRAMPUS”When the postcard industry experienced a boom in Germany & Austria in the 1890s, it opened the way for Krampuskarten: holiday greeting cards featuring Krampus that weren’t meant to make you feel warm & fuzzy, but were considered festive in a Halloween-ish way. This two-sided full-color 4x6 postcard was designed in the spirit of those vintage Krampuskarten cards. The front features my version of Krampus and the back is designed to resemble the mailing side of a vintage Austrian Christmas postcard. Designed by animation artist Joe Boyle. Joe Boyle is a character designer for kids' shows like Scooby-Doo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Batman. He currently makes fun stuff for kids at Nickelodeon. ***** All orders are shipped in a flat envelope with USPS.Your order can be sent with tracking for an additional shipping charge.
