Description: This is a .999 Fine Silver handmade Pirate cob! 100% USA made! A fun way to add silver bullion to your collection in the form of unique pirate treasure! Completely handmade by me, using the exact methods that the originals were made with, to the exact weight the originals were made to, all right in my shop in Northern New Hampshire. I am one of only three artists in the world making pirate coins this way!! The rest use molds they simply pour the silver into. I melt down the fine silver and form it into perfect flat planchettes completely by hand. Then I strike it between two dies of my own design. The dies I designed are modeled after the historical 1600-1700 era "Pirate" coins (known as cobs). Only, I took the liberty to add a "piratey" element to them; how I think a quintessential "pirate" coin should really look, with a beautiful deep Skull and crossed swords! My Kraken is modeled after one of the very first known cobs, that would have sailed across the Atlantic with Christopher Columbus in 1492! The back is nearly identical to the originals; with a bold shield and the Latin for "Ferdinand and Isabella", the king and queen of Spain at the time. The front was inspired by the design on the original, but has a little more artistic liberty present, with the big Kraken in the middle surrounded the Latin for "at the mercy of the Kraken"! This listing shows the "8 reales" denomination / size. It was the largest of the silver coinage back then. They weigh the same as the originals, roughly 27 grams and are roughly the size of a silver dollar or 1.25". Comes in a cotton bag with a sweet Black Spot Guild sticker. These are just examples of the coins you would receive, and NOT THE EXACT ONE. As each one is hand melted, shaped, and struck, no two are alike. Each one has the same design but vary quite a lot in shape and what portion of the design actually shows up on the cobs, just like the originals. I also make them in a full ounce size (super popular amongst bullion collectors) and the smaller 4 Reale size (14 grams). There is also the option for a 100% handmade sterling silver bezel you see in the one picture. I charge $60 to add the bezel. Your other big decision is a natural silver finish or a darkened/aged look. Just message me after purchasing and let me know which you prefer.
