The sound source section is equipped with a DSP-based analog modeling system that has been highly praised by musicians in the ELECTRIBE series and MS2000. Based on eight types of oscillator algorithms such as sawtooth and square waves typical of analog synthesizers, you can freely create sounds in each section on the front panel. Each section is composed of an oscillator, filter, amplifier, modulation, effect, etc., and you can intuitively edit by switching the section and turning the corresponding knob. You can also change the sound in real time while playing, making it useful in a wide range of situations such as live performances and recording. ■The microKORG has two oscillators (OSC1, OSC2) per voice. In addition to basic analog waveforms such as sawtooth, square, and sine waves, OSC1 is equipped with VOX Wave, which has the formant of human voice, and DWGS (64 types of digital waveforms) as typified by the KORG digital synthesizer masterpiece DW-8000. Even with just basic analog waveforms, you can use the waveform control parameters to complexly transform the waveform, and by making full use of modulation (ring, sync) with OSC2, which has three basic analog waveforms, you can easily create very complex sounds using just the oscillator. In addition, external input sounds can be treated in the same way as the built-in oscillators, and can also be processed using the filters inside the unit. ■The microKORG's multi-mode filter can be selected from four types: two types of low-pass filters (-12dB/-24dB), a band-pass filter, and a high-pass filter.
