They are shooting for world domination. KING OF KONG ISLAND (1968) is about a mad scientist named Albert Muller (Marc Lawrence), who is building an army of radio-controlled go-rillas! Indeed, he surgically implants receivers in their simian noggins! This all takes place in the jungles of Africa. Enter Brad Harris as Burt Dawson, intergalactic man of adventure. Dawson is trying to track down the man who shot him and left him for dead at the beginning of the movie. In the meantime, he hangs out at the local dance club, where he dances like he has spiders in his shirt, and jacks in his shoes. He also gets into a slight altercation w/ Turk (Paul Carter) and his goons, who try to cut Burt's head off! The next day, Dawson's friend Robert and his sister Diana (Ursula Davis), set out on an expedition / safari, in order to shoot and kill unwary animals from a safe distance. All while smooth, night club music plays! Dig those drums! Uh oh! Robert's men are nervous. They fear the "sacred monkey"! That night, two of Muller's robo-go-rillas invade the campsite, and abduct Diana! Upon discovering that Turk is somehow involved, Dawson agrees to help rescue Diana. Along the way, Robert simply must shoot at more wildlife! The trek drags on... and on. Here, the group encounters the "sacred monkey". Why, that's no monkey! That's a woman, and she's lost her top! Luckily, her magic hair covers her naughty bits, no matter how she moves or what she does! Dawson runs into an Interpol agent, and a deal is struck! Dawson will help to take care of Muller and his hairy automatons. Turk shows up and starts killing people, while the "sacred monkey" looks on. After a near-death experience, Dawson emerges as the sole survivor, tearing off his shirt and taking a dip in a river. More of that night club music intones. The "sacred monkey" brings him some bananas! Dawson dubs her Eve. What was this movie about, again? Oh yeah, meanwhile, at Muller's underground lair, Diana is treated shamefully. Can Dawson save her, before Muller uses his eeevil, insane experiments on her? Do not look away during the fiendish finale!
