Description: Here is another amazing Philipsburg specimen that features intergrown polybasite and pyrargyrite with sphalerite, galena and malachite from the oxidation of the former. The specimen is quite amazing because one can see the coating of the polybasite where it enriched the sphalerite and other minerals. In areas one can see the gorgeous deep glints of red but it's all over the specimen! There is also lots of malachite which is quite unusual for the Algonquin mine and only occurred in the upper portions of the deposit. There is also some iridescent bornite? coating some of the sphalerite really rounding the specimen out. The specimen is highly fluorescent under shortwave even with my little 4 watt SW UV lamp. And there is also a bit of phosphorescence which is unusual. Extremely rich and heavy specimen! This specimen is so good that I kept the other half for my personal collection, that's how good I think this piece is! 8.5x7.5x6.5 cm
