Description: This is a silkscreen print handmade by Kiki Smith; the b&w image is printed on muslin cloth of a girl's hair braids; the print is sown on to a red cotton ready made handkerchief with white dotes and made in Italy; limited edition to approx. 20 hand made; Published by Thirteen Moons, N.Y. 2001; Information from Pace Gallery: "there were several variations on the braid prints; that as the scarfs were themselves varied, it may be that each work is unique within the edition"; it is not hand signed - as issued - but there is tiny printed text on silkscreen print that reads " Kiki Smith Thirteen Moons2001"; approx. size of print on muslin: 16 x 9-1/2in; each print is hand cut and the edges of the muslin cloth has some threads hanging loose -as issued by publisher; the handkerchief size: 30 x 30 in.; the text on one side of the tiny cloth label attached to the handkerchief reads: "100% cotton - R. N.34191- Made in Italy" and the other side reads "Machine Wash Warm Gentle Tumble Dry Low Warm Irion" (but I personally would never wash it); both handkerchief & print have never been framed or used and has been storage wrapped around a tub to keep them from getting too many creases; both are in EXCELLENT COND.
