The Kidde 10SCO is a new alarm with both an optical smoke sensor and combined it the same small unit is a Carbon Dioxide alarm to give you total protection. This is the first combined smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarm that utilises an optical smoke detector. The old Kidde 900-0122 had an ionisation sensor while Kidde 10SCO has an optical (also known as photoelectric) sensor which is a little quicker at detecting large particles of smoke produced by slow burning fires. The Kidde 10SCO has a unique Voice message System. This latest model from Kidde will inform you of the type of the danger, fire or carbon monoxide. It will also warn you when the battery is low or if the Hush mode is activated or cancelled. It will even tell you if carbon monoxide was detected while you were out. Fantastic! The Kidde 10SCO has a 10 year guarantee which is unprecedented in the combined alarms that are available. After the 10 year period has expired the alarm will chirp twice every 30 seconds to let you know it is time to replace the unit. With a front battery load compartment even changing the battery is achieved in seconds. In a fire situation where both smoke and carbon dioxide will be detected the smoke alarm takes precedence therefore ensuring your safety.The following alarm states can occur.Fire: three long alarm beeps, red light flash, verbal warning message FIRE! FIRE!Carbon Monoxide: four short beeps, red light flash, verbal warning message WARNING! CARBON MONOXIDE!Low Battery: for 28 days the red light will flash every minute, so it will not wake you up at 2 am!
