Description: This is a nice finger lamp. It is clear glass, and in a smaller size. It is complete with burner and a chimney. The burner is a rare Phoenix type with a side fill and snuffer. Kerosene Finger Lamp Clear Glass, w/ Chimney & Rare Phoenix Side Fill Burner Click images to enlarge Description CLEAR GLASS FINGER LAMP w/ PHOENIX BURNER & CHIMNEY LATE 19th CENTURY THIS IS A GUARANTEED GENUINE ANTIQUE KEROSENE FINGER LAMP. It is in clear glass with a raised pattern. It stands about 3 inches tall to the top of the early common collar, and has a diameter (not including the applied finger loop) of about 3.5 inches. With the beaded chimney, it stands about 11 inches tall. The burner is a somewhat rare "Phoenix" type, with a built-in side-fill funnel and a built-in snuffer. I do not see the name anywhere on it, but the thumbwheel does have patent dates in the 1880s. Notice that the base of the burner is brass but the flame dome is nickel (doubtless plated). Although most today would not do that, Victorians liked to mix metals that way. As the photos show, there is some sort of a line on the upper part of the finger loop. It does not look to me like it is anything other than at the surface, so I do not think (THINK being the operative word) that it is a crack. There is also a rough area on the inside of the finger loop. Please study the photos and make your own decisions. I sell all electrical and mechanical items in technically AS-IS condition, as things this old can fail, break, or get out of adjustment in shipping. You still have a 30 day inspection period during which the item can be returned.
