The very knowledgeable eBay group mind has determined this cast Iron toy to be a replica of a Kenton Toy.There looks to be a great deal of work gone into this replica, from the look of the horses and the ornate details, on the frame of this ladder wagon. Reportedly many of these were produced in China, and hit the American market in the 1970s. No doubt it started out brightly painted, but it has been stripped of its original paint job and given a very striking flat black paint coating, a good primer base to inhibit any rusting. This ladder wagon has four ladders, two that hang from the sides, and a two part long ladder that stores inside the frame of the wagon. What this toy is missing is the reins tack for the three horse team, as well as a crossbar that would be mounted forward of the front wheels. But these items could be easily fabricated. We tried are best to get some good pictures, but the black paint makes it a bit difficult, hopefully you can see the wonderful details in the castings that make up this toy. This is a large toy, measuring approximately 30 1/2 inches from the back of the wagon to the tip of the horses hooves. The wheels and their axles are approximately 5 1/2 inches wide.Because of the toy being made of cast iron it weighs approximately 10 pounds. If you are a collector of cast iron toys, even if it is a replica, this fire ladder wagon will be a very impressive addition to your collection.
