Description: A very cool 1800s KEMP’S BALSAM FOR THROAT AND LUNGS with the inventor’s name misspelled. Orator Frank Woodward, a businessman in LeRoy, New York, made his fortune from his acquisition of the rights to Jell-O in 1899, but before that was already a successful entrepreneur. At 13 he invented a lice-killing nest egg for chicken coops and by 27 was into patent medicines and bought the formula for KEMP’S BALSAM. He went on to purchase several patent medicines and sold them under the Genesee Pure Food Company name. Of course, he will always be remembered for his unbelievable $450 purchase of the Jell-O trademark, and today you can even visit the Jello Gallery in his hometown of LeRoy, NY. This late 1800s quack medicine bottle with a seldom-seen “typo” of WOODWARD’s name with a backward D in the WOOD is a light blue, 5.5 inches tall, clean, and in near mint condition…except for the backward D! As always, carefully wrapped and promptly shipped USPS. Thank you for looking!
