It is a political machine founded on treason.” She published her first poem when nine years old. When she was sixteen she spent time in Italy to round out her eduction. While in Sicily, she was abducted by brigans who demanded a substantial ransom. After six weeks, the family paid the required amount, but the leader of the gang had fallen in love with Kate and proposed. Though she turned him down, he became a monk. She was responsible for the preservation of John Brown’s farm. 3x2 card signed in brown fountain pen ink, “Yours truly, Kate Field.” In very good condition with light age toning.
