Coached by the great Mike Krzyzewski, the Blue Devils won a nail biter in the semifinals against UNLV to advance to the championship game. On the other end of the court, the Kansas Jayhawks, led by Coach Roy Williams, earned their trip to the title game with a victory over North Carolina in the semifinals. When the final buzzer sounded, the Duke Blue Devils had won the 1991 national championship with a 72-65 victory, giving Coach Mike Krzyzewski his first national championship.
