Description: Through the years, our business (Kamik), and the city changed. But we remained committed to our community and our city. After 125 years, we still make our boots in Montreal, in the same factory we opened in 1965, with Canadian and imported materials. Being surrounded by the company’s heritage is grounding, and inspiring, and motivates us to innovate in new ways. Manufacturing in North America provides us with the opportunity to radically rethink and reshape how we make our products. Not only do we save on transport emissions, but we've also reduced our waste by using and reusing as much of our source materials as possible and investing in a recycling program that has allowed us to create boots that are 100% recyclable. How's that for sustainability efforts? We invest and take pride in these initiatives because when you've been around this long, you're not afraid to challenge the status quo. And because we want to be here to celebrate the next 125 years. Since it’s our birthday, we decided to open the doors of our Montreal factory and give you, our customers, a glimpse into how our footwear is made. We take great pride in our North American manufacturing and it’s a pleasure to share how we make the magic happen with you. Our footwear, crafted with attention to detail and care, are not the only stars of the campaign. It also features the Kamik family, the team who work tirelessly behind the scenes every day to create best in class family footwear. What an absolute pleasure it was to work with them on this and to honor them in this way. Making footwear is our passion and stepping outside and spending time together is our joy. How we (Kamik) reshape our waste: Recycling-Left over trimmings and old boots are grinded in our Canadian factory.Reusing-The ground product becomes pellets that will be melted in our boot molds.Reshaping-The pellets become waterproof and sustainable boots for the whole family. We recycle 90% of cooling water used by our Canadian factory, the equivalent of 15 Olympic swimming pools.360,000 black rain boots are produced in our North American factories from recycled rubber. Our recycled and recyclable packaging saves approximately 132 cars CO2 emissions. LINERS MADE FROM OLD PLASTICS:Our North American-made winter boot felt liners are made of up to 100% recycled plastic content. For every pair you purchase, you help give a new life to a minimum of 3 plastic bottles. That's a total of 3 million water bottles per year!NO-WASTE MANUFACTURING:We keep resources in use for as long as possible, extracting their maximum value, to then recover and recycle products and materials at the end of each life cycle, so we begin anew every time.BLOOM™ TECHNOLOGY:Algae represents a natural thermoplastic material to displace fossil fuel-based plastics in a variety of consumer products. BLOOM materials allow companies to innovate and create more eco-conscious products with measurable impacts. Do kamik boots run big or small? These boots are insanely warm (-40f) so for someone like me who's feet are ALWAYS cold or will be spending much time outside, I'm sure they'd be great. HOWEVER-Kamik boots run SMALL..& not just a little small, I mean like a size & a half.. 2 sizes if your not a "1/2". A US kids size 1 is equivalent to an AU 01.5.Australia uses the UK shoe sizing system, which is the same as US sizing but excludes the "s". This means that different brands may size their shoes differently. When buying shoes, it's best to base your purchase on a foot measurement and the shoe size inner measurement. Here are some other kids shoe size conversions from US to AU:Baby (0-12 months): US 10.2, AU/UK 01Toddler (1-3 years): US 13.6, AU/UK 04.55-5.5 years: US 15.7, AU/UK 07.5 HOW DO KIDS SHOE SIZES WORK?As most parents know, kids grow out of their shoes at an astounding rate. But even though parents are constantly buying them new pairs, understanding how kids shoe sizes work never seems to get easier. Due to the differences in international sizes, it can be difficult to stay on top of knowing what size your child’s shoe is in each brand. Our guide will help you fully understand how kids’ shoe sizes work on the international market. We also look at why some shoe sizes can nominally look the same — even though one pair of shoes is ostensibly bigger than the other. In doing so, we take out any confusion you feel each and every time you go to buy your child a new pair of trainers, sports shoes or school shoes! ARE KIDS SHOE SIZES THE SAME EVERYWHERE?Even though some countries have the same measurement system, kids’ shoe sizes vary from country to country. For example, Australia and the UK have the same shoe sizing system, and all countries across Europe use the EU shoe size system. In the US, they have a slightly different system to the UK and Australian measurement system. When it comes to children’s sizes, all are unisex. Additionally, some brands like to add foot width to the mix. It may seem like an added layer of complexity, but this can actually be very beneficial if you’re finding it tough to find shoes that fit your child. Some children, especially boys, will have wider feet than others, and some narrower than average. There are some brands that either delineate between this, or make all styles in a range of widths. Getting the right width is one of the ways you can keep both heel slippage and chaffing to a minimum. Not all brands do width sizing, however, so be sure that the style still works for your child if not. HOW DO KIDS SHOE SIZES WORK – GLOBAL SHOE SIZE COMPARISONSHere is an easy-to-use comparison chart so you know what size is what when comparing different shoe brands for your children. However, there will still be slight differences in size — even if two brands use the same system. For kids’ shoes, this is why it’s important to have them try on shoes indoors and walk around in them before finally settling on a pair. The right shoe should allow them to move easily and freely — in a manner that they are not even thinking about their feet. As a child, being able to run around or even walk as they want is helpful to promote confidence — which turns into mental well-being as a result! Additionally, getting the right kids’ shoe size is beneficial to their physical development. Being able to walk around as the body intended is vital to encourage good posture, and agility, especially if they play sports. If your child is wearing a pair of shoes that does not fit them properly, their range of motion will adapt to offset the ill fit. As a result, their muscles move in a way that they may not do otherwise. These factors add up to ensuring that your child has both the ability and confidence to move as they want. If your child’s shoe is too tight, they will likely be less active while they are wearing them. That means that they won’t feel comfortable running around with their friends even going for a walk with you. In an era of smartphones and tablets, it’s crucial that we encourage children to be physically active. Having the wrong shoes simply provides them with an excuse or reason not to go outside and take part in sport or activity. Having the right shoes can therefore make all the difference, we have a wide range of kids shoes from the trusted brands such as NIKE, ASICS, adidas, New Balance and more. So head to INTERSPORT and let one of your professionals find and fit your child with their new favorite pair of shoes.
