With durable all-metal construction and their patented Magne-Matic uncoupling with delay feature, they are the brand that model modelers trust. This #120 is the latest 2024 release in the "Scale Head" line. The "whisker" centering springs are pieces of very fine spring wire that are integral to the coupler. No more lost or flattened springs! The Scale couplers have a smaller head that closer to the proper size, as well as a nicer-looking shape. They are compatible with most other HO knuckle couplers. The Type SBE Bottom-shelf coupler is used on many locos and freightcars in the "modern" era. The shelves are designed to keep the couplers connected in the event of a derailment. With a medium-length center-set "scale" head, and common shank with 3/32" hole, it fits in probably 90% of all HO applications. Accurail, Athearn, Atlas, Bowser, Intermountain, Proto-2000, Walthers, and many other brands use this type of shank almost exclusively. Bachmann, Life-Like and some others use it in some products, but not others.
