Juvento Lopez Reyes Sterling Silver Bowl

Description: This is an early work of Juvento Lopez Reyes in 925 Sterling silver before moving into more modernist designs. This piece is a substantial 796.2 grams (1 lb. 12.09 oz). The scolloped designed bowl measures 17.5 in long by 9.5 in wide and stands 3.0 in high including the feet. Actual bowl depth is 2.25 in deep. There is a rolled braid design edge that measures 0.24 in wide and 0.20 in thick. Each leg is 1.35 in high (mounted at a recessed point) and at the widest point 2.02 in (where it attaches to the bowl). The bottom is stamped with the JLR logo and a copyright stamp. It is also stamped Made in Mexico, Sterling and 0925. This is a very impressive piece that makes a dramatic table impression. About the artist/silversmith: Juventino Lopez Reyes Mexican Artist born in 1915 and was at his height and creative power in the 1950's. His style fix firmly in the Mid Century Danish Design, later in his career, with its simplistic design but yet fitting perfectly into its function. JUVENTINO LOPEZ REYERS Opened in 1935 his workshop Plateria del Recreo and used slight variations on the hallmarks here. Many of his designs exhibited the simplistic Danish design with touches of tradition Mexican art worked in to the production. Marked on the bottom with Made in Mexico and 0.925 and long with his iconic and easily recognizable initials, JLR. All of his pieces are of the highest quality and craftsmanship.
