This is a 1st edition, 2nd impression (June, 1894) published just one month after the true first edition of May 1894. This book is a rebind of the original with new endpapers but otherwise all of the original text block is present. The Jungle Book (first published May, 1894) is a collection of stories written by Rudyard Kipling, later immortalised in the famous animated Disney film. Contents: Mowgli’s Brothers: Hunting Song of the Seeonee Place; Kaa’s Hunting: Road-Song of the Bandar-Log; ‘Tiger-Tiger’: Mowgli’s Song; The White Seal: Lukannon: ‘Rikki-Tikki Tavi’: Darzee’s Chaunt; Toomai of the Elephants: Shiv and the Grasshopper; Servants of the Queen: Parade Song of the Camp Animals. Good condition – Rebind is well done but a very good amateur rather than professional job. Covers in good condition clean and bright. Binding is tight – no loose pages. Cream endpapers have been added in place of black originals with brown tape binding visible (see photos). Book has ex libris sticker to front endpaper and some ink writing to page facing. First title page has remains of a (brown) sticker. Some foxing to early / final pages with some foxing spots to main text block. Otherwise book is clean / unmarked – no inscriptions, no scribbles etc. All plates/illustrations present. Pages crisp. A few (yellowed) fingermarks.
