Check our pictures, we didn't use any flash, this is all natural lighting.Rauten rose crystals are a fancy type of glass crystal, multi faceted at the top and flat at the bottom. Not too many designs from the era this pair was made (the 1950s) used this type. And it's even rarer to find rauten crystals that are high-dome; most of them are shallower (as a supplier of jewelry for Hollywood movies, the Joseff company had access to unusual colors and shapes of crystals).Each of our earrings has a pair of rauten rose crystals sitting atop circlets of molded gilt flowers. The crystals shimmer with pinks and yellows and purples and light blues — in short, with colors of the rainbow. The crystals have an exquisite fine-pronged base (a favorite setting by Joseff). The circlets are adjoined at the center, which has an arch that loops across the two crystals, encasing or caging them. From the side, the silhouette of each earring is a floral basket, with the crystals representing the blooms.The earrings are 1 5/8" long and an inch wide. They are very 3-D, with a 3/4" depth.They are clipbacks. Marked with Joseff two ways. One earring has the earlier (1930s-1940s) Joseff logo in block letters; the other earring has the script Joseff, in use from the 1950s, mostly for its retail line.Our earrings are in very good to excellent condition. Those rauten rose crystals are in fantastic shape; even in low light, they shimmer quite a bit. The gilt portions are still intact, with patinated surface mostly visible at the base.
