Description: EF Johnson Viking Ranger , #26 SN: 87490 Rebuild started and in process This Ranger I is being built from scratch* We had a chassis from a junker ( cleaned and scrubbed )* We had lots of Ranger parts ( Cleaned, repaired as necessary) * We decided to build a Ranger I, wiring configuration II, from scratch. This unit will incorporate PTT, a Johnson Keyer, Overhauled VFO, re-painted and re-lettered panel, Solid state drive and solid state +300VDC regulator modules. * Almost all the mechanical work is complete. * Chassis wiring going right along* Chassis wiring about 80% completed* Keyer/Bias sub panel installed* RF string wiring completed* Mode Switch of Death re-wiring completed* New mil-spec ceramic meter switch and wiring installation complete* PA output coil assembly interconnection completed. * Build approximately 80% complete. * Temporary panel meter installed* VFO installed, less shroud * PTT, driver and +300VDC regulator modules installed and tested* Microphone pre-amplifier tested* Metering ( up to and including GRID) tested* Buffer tuning tested* Xtal oscillator tested. * VFO shroud and interconnect wiring installed* Grid Drive tested all bands ( Except 11 meters). Adequate IG all bands * Overhauled ball drive installed* VFO CW threshold adjusted* Relay voltage (115VAC) output @ Jones socket in PHONE mode, PTT energized. * Top of chassis shield installed* Idle IP for modulation tubes adjusted ( Green Knob on Keyer/Bias sub panel), adjusted to 60ma * RF Power tests. * Front panel paint stripped, cleaned with Acetone, and primed (2 coats of primer), 3 coats of Johnson Dark Grey, then masking and 3 coats of Johnson Maroon. Enamel seasoning for a couple of weeks, then panel labeling * Sub panel labeled. * Shipping is Fed Ex to the lower 48 only, insured for sales price. Double boxed. * www,kiss-electronics
